The Head Start Collaboration Office was created through a
grant from the Administration for Children and Families, A.C.F.
and the State of Rhode Island, Office of the Governor. The
Office was placed at the Department of Human Services in the
fall of 1996, in the Office of Individual and Family Support
Services, I.F.S.S. This Office operates the States cash
assistance program for needy families and children, the Family
Independence Program. Also D.H. S. administers the Child Care
subsidy program, and a host of other important services including
employment and training and the adolescent self-sufficiency
It is the goal of the Collaboration Office to develop strong
partnerships between the afore mentioned DHS programs, and
other State services critical to Head Start families.
The priority areas for the Project are as follows:
Care, including Oral Health and Mental Health services
to Children with Disabilities
Care and Education systems development
for the RI Head Start Association and Parent Leadership Forums
The Collaboration director Mr. Lawrence G. Pucciarelli serves
